Organisation achieves a secure, highly available and flexible email security product that meets customer need and industry standards, and enables market competitiveness.

LONDON, UK – June 24, 2013 — Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE:RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that Nexor, provider of an end-to-end secure information exchange solutions, has migrated to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 to break through product development limitations related to an ageing, proprietary operating platform. The new enterprise-ready and secure solution has enabled Nexor’s application to meet international standards for computer security while also decreasing application build-time from up to three days, to a matter of hours.

With a rich heritage in guard solutions for the defence, government and intelligence market, Nexor’s product Sentinel is a highly available and secure gateway application that protects user organisations by validating inbound and outbound electronic messages to conform to security policies of the protected domain.

In order to meet stringent customers’ interoperability and security requirements and the Common Criteria certification, Nexor evaluated three options within the market. Red Hat was quickly identified as the open source market leader as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 is itself Common Criteria certified.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux gives Sentinel the ability to lock down and control information flow, and delivers a successful and secure solution that operates with zero downtime. Sentinel, which is now fully certified, is benefiting Nexor’s customers through increased interoperability and reduced training needed to work with Nexor products, without sacrificing the important level of security. Nexor expects that this transition to Red Hat Enterprise Linux will allow them to further penetrate the market as it demonstrates their ability to maintain continuous supply within the market.

The solution has also delivered a number of benefits to the usability of the Sentinel application; it now runs faster, benefiting both customers and internal Nexor users. Further, with Red Hat Network Satellite, Nexor can now automate system updates across its network, allowing security updates to be passed directly from Nexor to the customers. Comprehensive Red Hat training courses and exams have enabled developers and system administrators to gain in-depth knowledge, skills and abilities required to get the most out of the Red Hat solution.

Preparing for the future, the project has modernised Sentinel, providing a highly secure, future-proof application for their military, intelligence and government customers. As Nexor’s platform of choice, Red Hat Enterprise Linux is being used to develop and enhance other products, including Nexor Guardian and Nexor Diode.

"The main benefit of working with Red Hat is that we have been able to move from a specialized, highly bespoke platform to a mainstream solution, from which we have been able to derive efficiency. By working with the open source and interoperable technology with enhanced security features, we are assured that our production environment is scalable for future innovation and will not be hampered by technology limitations. This instils customer confidence in our product, thanks to the assurance that our infrastructure is built for the long term, and improves competitiveness in the market," says Colin Robbins, Technical Director, Nexor.
